Good Housekeeping Names Golf GTI Best New Compact Car

Although the Pugi Volkswagen team already thinks the new Golf GTI is an excellent car, it's still a great honor to be recognized by one of the leading publications in America. Good Housekeeping magazine recently named the Golf GTI as the Best New Car in the compact vehicle category. The experts at Car and Driver magazine and Good Housekeeping teamed up to rate vehicles on their value, safety, handling, interior design comfort, and onboard technology. To give each model a fair shot, these vehicles were driven more than 1,200 miles on test tracks and open roads, and the VW Golf GTI came out on top.

The Golf GTI struck a chord with Good Housekeeping in a number of areas, including miles per gallon, visibility, the stylish and roomy interior, and a tight suspension. Good Housekeeping also said that they've 'never tested a more practical compact.'

With the 2.0L TSI® turbocharged engine that produces 210 HP and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, you'll have a blast driving the Golf GTI around Downers Grove, IL. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, but drivers also have the option to equip their GTI with a 6-speed DSG® dual-clutch automatic transmission.
